Shahid Siddiqui
Shahid Siddiqui is a journalist and a social activist. He is currently working with IBN7and is also associated with Association For Community Research And Action (ACRA), which aims at enabling communities to have a say in the decisions which affect their lives. Under the ACRA banner he has been researching on social issues and putting pressure on government missionaries to act. He was recently involved in the Dengue Menace and Big awareness campaign and he managed to involve MCD to make people aware about the disease. He has also motivated people to come forward to offer relief to flood victims in remote areas of Bihar.

Dr. Kuresh Zorabi
Dr. Kuresh Zorabi is an eye surgeon and one of the survivor and witness to the whole 26/ 11 episode in Mumbai. He was at the fore-front for saving lives of the locals. He was the one who had taken charge of rescuing people before the forces could set in. He had been instrumental in getting a heritage status for the fire temples in Mumbai which safeguarded them against the builder lobby. He has been working for the Parsi community and tried and stopped sex discrimination. He is also affiliated to the (N.C.P.) as a Maharashtra Pradesh Pratineedi and had contested the BMC Elections in the year 2007 on a NCP ticket from the most prestigious corporation ward no. 225 of Colaba Constituency. He had also stalled the election counting process for 4 hours due to election process being faulty as the EVMS (electronic voting machines) seal was tampered with and he raised a serious objection for the same.

Ritu Raj Kalra
Ritu Raj Kalra has been a socially conscious person since his school days. He used to help domestic servants with a way to live a better life. At the young age of 15 years, he pledged to donate his eyes. He conducted free literacy classes for the children of poor families for two months, collected donations at his college campus for Latur earthquake victims. He had been instrumental in fighting corruption, promoting discipline and fighting the illegal activities, around his residence. He has pledged to fight for the unprivileged and seek justice for all.

Prof. V Raghu Raman
Prof. V Raghu Raman is an academician by profession. He is currently posted as a senior faculty at Sultanate of Oman, under the Ministry of manpower. He has been helping people in need on a continuous basis and provides training & grooming to people who are willing to learn but cannot afford to pay on a regular basis. He provided a lot of support to a family in Chennai who almost lost everything in the torrential rains. He volunteers for various causes including health for the elderly and orphanages by providing his services, money, clothes & groceries etc as per the requirement. He has been involved with various individuals & organizations in assisting people in all possible ways to help make a difference to their lives.

Sandeep Sharma
Sandeep Sharma is a transportation and road safety expert, heading International Roads and Highways portfolio. He is trying to raise awareness about road safety through social networking sites to reduce road accidents in the Asian continent. Sandeep is presently based out of Dubai and has been volunteering actively towards "Making our Roads Safer" campaign through public consultations, evening talks, initiating intellectual dialogues via the internet groups, seminars and consultancy. He has spent over 15 years across the globe understanding roads and transport related issues including design of safer roads.

Sandeep Chawla
Sandeep Chawla is an insurance agent and has been motivating people since 7 years to pledge their eyes. He donated his infant son’s eye who was also his first child as he developed an acute respiratory problem. He went against his family do take this noble but tough decision. He pledged his own eyes and has been motivating others to do the same. He considers the death of his child an opportunity to encourage others and brighten the life of some unfortunate person without sight.

Tara L. Venkatesan
Tara L. Venkatesan is 15 years old and has a passion for singing. She has been performing since the age of 8 and has been featured on various television channels and major newspapers. Tara has sung in the Closing Act of the Commonwealth Games 2010 and in a variety of Indian and European opera productions. Tara is keen to create opportunities for those who are less fortunate than she, particularly the girl child. She has created a platform, "Music- 4 Kids By Kids" to sing and speak for underprivileged kids. She has staged special concerts all over India, raising over US$ 70,000 for the international and national charities. SOS Villages of India has declared Tara an Ambassador for their cause in recognition of her efforts.

A.V. Swamy
Mr. A.V. Swamy, a chemical engineer, a sage like personality, an absolute Gandhian, has dedicated his life for the cause of the poor and neglected people of our country. He participated in the Quit India Movement at the age of 12. Involved in the Freedom fight for India, Swami was also active in student politics. He actively took part in Vinoba Bhave’s Land Gift mission. He was FREA-INDIA’s Regional Organiser for East India which aimed at developing analytical skills of the youth to understand and assist rural development. His first exposure to rural development was when he was working in a block in Koraput district on credit for the poor people. Later on in 1961, he was appointed as the BDO of Koraput district in Orissa by the then CM Biju Patnaik. He was the relief and rehabilitation coordinator in the cyclone hit areas of Orissa through Sarvodaya Releif Committee and Oxfam. He was the Field Director for Oxfam’s Eastern India programme and was declared as state guest of Orissa. Swamy was appointed as Coordinator for Orissa programme initially designated as Action Consultant. This new role saw him interacting with important government functionaries, conducting studies, preparing reports organizing meetings and providing training for the professionals. A.V Swamy also took part in the freedom struggle of Bangladesh with the fiery youths and he became their Guru – a real Friend, Philosopher and Guide.

Rakesh Mathur
Mr. Rakesh Mathur, President Welcome Heritage group, has spearheaded the country’s largest Heritage Hotels group to win many awards like the “Galileo Express award” and “Today’s Traveller Award” for the Best Heritage Hotel Chain for 4 consecutive years. He pioneered the Promotion of Domestic Leisure tourism and the concept of Circuit tourism. He has won some personal awards for pioneering Efforts in Developing and promoting Heritage Tourism. He’s a member of Advisory Committees of the CII, INTACH, Tourism Finance Corporation of India, SATTE who works actively to draft policies to promote tourism in India. He is also the founder vice president of Ecotourism Society of India. Rakesh is also the President, North India for Save the Children India, a NEST India Foundation trustee. These social Organizations are devoted to Health, Education, and Vocational Training for the poor. He believes that tourism to India is not about gambling and entertainment, but about promoting our Heritage Culture. Along with Save The Children India, Rakesh launched the initiative of ‘Safe And Honourable Tourism’, a phrase he coined to avoid use of negative words, evolving a code of conduct for Tourism Service Providers which received global UNODC and WTO acceptance and was released by the Ministry of Tourism in September 2010 and will become mandatory. This is a pioneering effort and achievement, which will have a long term impact on tourism policy in India. Rakesh also heads a self initiated charitable Foundation to provide all kinds of aid, assistance and education to the under privileged and an active Rotarian and Vice President of the Rotary Club of Delhi South end.

Akshay Singh
Akshay is a student of class 7th of Deepalaya School. He is a good student and took part in ‘Cine Art Film Making’ and made a Film to create awareness about environmental Issues. He worked on the theme of conservation of power and was very enthusiastic about it. He loves dance, drams and is a confident child who is a good performer on stage.

Alka Sharma
Alka Sharma is a student of class 8th of Deepalaya School. She took part in Cine Art Film making and was very enthusiastic about it. She made a Film to create awareness about environmental Issues. She worked on the theme of conservation of power and was very enthusiastic about it. She is a very smart, talented and intelligent girl and is good in academics as well as in dance, music and acting. She takes part in all the extra curricular activities with keen interest and is a part of the school’s Net Ball and choral group.

Ashma Rashish
Ashma Rashish is a student of class 8th of Deepalaya School. She is very concerned with environmental issues and took active part in Cine Art activities. She was a part in the film making on the theme of conservation of power and tries to apply the same at school and locality. She has participated in many drawing competitions and has got training on Fine Arts at Nehru Memorial Library. She is the member of Deepalaya choir group and participated in the coral songs presented by Deepalaya on the Common Wealth Games cultural programme held at Central Park, Cannaught Place. She was also a part of the dance ‘Bandemataram’ which was presented on the same day.

Babita
Babita is in class 7th of Deepalaya School. She participated in ‘Cine Art Film Making’ and worked on the theme of ‘Conservation of Power’. It was a new experience for her and she was very excited about it. She is excellent in drawing and has won prizes in different competitions. She takes part in dance and drama also. She loves reading story books. She participates in extra-curricular activities and is very strong academically as well.

Irfan
Irfan is a student of Class 6th of Deepalaya School. He participated in the film made by Cine Art based on environmental issues. He enjoyed it very much as he is very concerned about the environmental issues. He tries to implement it at school and community. Irfan is good in studies. Apart from studies, he takes part in extra-curricular activities. His ambition is to become an actor and performed very well in ‘Nukar Natak’ YMCA.

Nisha
Nisha is a class 4th student of Deepalaya School. She was a part of the Cine Art Film Making activity. She made a Film to create awareness about environmental Issues and worked on the theme of conservation of power and was very enthusiastic about it. She is energetic, intelligent and a very good dancer and is appreciated for her inherent talent in dance. She is good in academics and an all rounder student.

Irfan
Pooja is a class 8th student of Deepalaya School. She is a member of Deepalaya choir group and participated in the coral songs presented by Deepalaya on the cultural programme held at Central Park, Cannaught Place on the occasion of Common Wealth Games. She participated in Cine Art Activities and took part in the film made by Cine Art on the theme ‘Carbon Foot Print’. She has interest in environment issues and took part in quiz competitions held at World Environment Day. She shows her concern with environmental issues by preparing drawings and slogans.

Rajabala
Rajabala is a student of class 8th of Deepalaya School. She took part in the Cine Art Film Making and made a Film to create awareness about environmental Issues. She worked on the theme of conservation of power and was very enthusiastic about it and shared her experiences enthusiastically. She is a very talented girl and takes part in all dance programmes in and outside the school. She is also in the school’s choral group. She loves acting also.

Sabila Khan
Sabila is a student of class 7th of Deepalaya School. She is a brilliant student. She participated in ‘Cine Art Film Making’ and worked on the theme of ‘Conservation of Power’. She was very happy and shared her experience with her classmates. She is good in drawing, dance and drama. She has participated in various activities and represented school in many competitions and won several prizes for her performances.

Sonia Singh
Sonia is a class 8th student of Deepalaya School. She took part in the Cine Art Film Making and worked on the theme of ‘Conservation of Power’ and tried to implement it at school and in the community. She is very active and takes part in the extra-curricular activities with keen interest. She loves dancing and has a special talent and interest in dancing & wants to become a dancer in future.

Anand Prakash
Anand Prakash joined Deepalaya School 7 years back. He has a keen interest in Music and through the support of his teachers at Deepalaya, he got admission in Gandharva Mahavidyalaya at Delhi, one of the most reputed universities teaching classical Indian music. Seeing his dream being fulfilled, he represented Deepalaya as a Dream Runner in the Airtel Delhi Half Marathon 2010. He wanted to give wings to the dreams of people who did not have any access to funds and so they decided to raise funds for such people by running the marathon. He is pursuing his Bachelors in Music, as well as Graduation from Delhi University in English.

Pradeep Kumar
Pradeep Kumar has been a part of Deepalaya since 6th grade. His dream was to be an artist and his ambition was fulfilled through Deepalaya & his sponsors, when he got enrollment in a course in Animation from Picasso Animation College. He was a part of the Airtel Delhi Half Marathon, 2010 as he wanted to support the dreams of other children like him and encourage more children to dream about their future. He feels that this is a way of giving back something to the society and a way to appreciate the efforts put in by his teachers at Deepalaya. In future, he plans to sponsor a child from Deepalaya

Komal Rathod
Komal Rathod is currently pursuing a part time course in BCA from IGNOU, sponsored by Deepalaya. She completed her education till class 10th from Deepalaya and then from a government school and had been a topper throughout. She participated in the Airtel Delhi Half Marathon, 2010 as a Dream Runner as she wanted to help Deepalaya educate more students like her, teach them to dream and give wings to their dreams. She has won many prizes in drawing competition and has been awarded by the former President of India, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam and the current President of India, Shrimati Pratibha Patil as well. She feels that it is the overall development that helps shape a child’s future.

Poonam
Poonam has been a student of Deepalaya since LKG and is the first girl in her village to have completed her schooling. She is currently pursuing her Advanced Diploma Course in Software Engineering. She was a part of the Dream Runner in Airtel Delhi Half Marathon, 2010 and is proud of the fact that the money she would be able to raise being a Dream Runner, would further help Deepalaya educate many more underprivileged children and give wings to their dreams. She is associated with Deepalaya even today and wants to contribute to Deepalaya to give wings to the dreams of many children like her.

Shama Parveen
Shama passed out of Deepalaya School three years back. She recently completed her training in Auxiliary Nurse Midwifery course, with the support of her sponsors at Deepalaya and now is the School Nurse for Deepalaya. She had always dreamt of becoming a nurse and caring for the sick. Her teachers convinced her parents to let her pursue her dream. She participated in the Airtel Half Marathon in Delhi, 2010 as a Dream Runner for Deepalaya. She wanted to give wings to the dreams of children who did not have any access to funds and so they decided to raise funds for such people by running the marathon.

Vijaylakshmi
Vijaylakshmi has been a part of Deepalaya as a student and now after completing her schooling, she is a teacher for Deepalaya. She always dreamt of being a teacher and now her dream has been fulfilled. She was a part of the Airtel Half marathon in Delhi, 2010. She wants to inspire parents to educate their girl child and help girl children like her to achieve their dreams. Through the Marathon, she aimed at giving wings to the dreams of children like her and encourages them to have a bright future.
